Blue Marble, a specialist in designing innovative parametric insurance products, has joined forces with global insurer MAPFRE to widen the availability of parametric cover for communities and businesses exposed to climate risks.
The tie-up centres on parametric solutions that draw on objective data, advanced analytics, AI and automation to trigger financial support automatically once predefined events take place. Because these products strip out much of the complexity associated with traditional claims processes, they can release funds far more quickly, bolstering financial resilience at the moments when it matters most.
Under the arrangement, Blue Marble will contribute its product design capabilities in the parametric space, while MAPFRE brings extensive knowledge of local markets alongside well-established distribution networks. The two firms intend to use this combination to reach markets where protection gaps remain substantial, with the broader goal of supporting more resilient communities.
The partnership comes as climate-related events grow both more frequent and more severe, putting pressure on the insurance sector to develop faster and more accessible forms of protection for vulnerable groups.
Blue Marble focuses on the creation of innovative parametric insurance offerings. The company said the rising uptake of parametric products mirrors a wider industry move towards digital, data-led solutions that enhance accessibility, efficiency and scalability, and that collaborations of this kind show how insurers can generate meaningful impact while extending cover to underserved populations.
