NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – A multinational energy company hosted an informational event on wind energy within Lincoln County on Tuesday.
RWE generates and trades electricity within Europe and the U.S. Tuesday evening, around a dozen RWE representatives were at the Brady Community Center to share information and answer questions on wind farms, including the construction and benefits of wind farms.
RWE shared postcards with residents of Brady to announce a possible wind energy project entitled ‘Brady Island’ that if constructed RWE says has the potential to impact more than 50,000 homes with home homegrown energy.
Still, some Greater Nebraska residents have voiced their concerns, among them is Todd Roe who has served on the Brady Village Board for 15 years, acting as the chairman for the last three years.
“I guess initially there was concern,” Roe said. “I know in North Central Nebraska there is some bitter water about the whole ordeal. I can’t say that I’m a huge fan, I’m trying to gather as much information as possible to try to understand it. Obviously, renewable energy is a big deal. We are in an age where electricity is paramount. There is only so much hydro a guy can do, the atomic energy plants are extremely expensive. Finding other avenues I understand, I just want to know more about it.”
