FD Wealth Management appoints chartered planner Matt Haig

The firm has been increasing its focus on current and former business owners and their families, many of whom have complex financial needs and significant personal and business assets.

FD Wealth was previously part of accountancy firm French Duncan LLP but became independent following French Duncan’s sale to AAB in 2023. It is now owned by some of the former French Duncan partners.

Executive chairman Graeme Finnie, who established FD Wealth from French Duncan, continues to lead the business.

The firm traces its origins to French and Cowan Chartered Accountants, established in 1904, and provides advice on pensions, inheritance tax, estate planning, investments and business planning.

FD Wealth is one of fewer than 50 businesses in the UK to hold Chartered Status with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI), a designation reflecting professional expertise, ethical conduct and competence across the organisation.

Tom O’Brien, head of advisory at FD Wealth, said: “It’s great to get another quality Chartered Financial planner like Matt on board.

“While the business has historically grown by word of mouth, the service we offer to business owners and their families, really stands out in the market and we are now constantly on the lookout for outstanding advisers.

“Our clients are reassured by our Chartered financial planners as they know they will be receiving the highest standard of advice underpinned by the strongest ethical standards.”

Graeme Finnie, executive chairman of FD Wealth, said: “During my tenure as Managing Partner of French Duncan LLP, it was always known for its people friendly culture.

“Staff liked working in the business and clients liked dealing with us. That ethos continues in FD Wealth and it’s clear that clients really like what we offer. ”
