The pilot initiative is being led by the university’s Innovation and Enterprise Programmes team and University of Glasgow Singapore (UGS), with support from Scottish Development International and other partners.
As part of the programme, the university is supporting a trade mission to Singapore in February 2027, connecting Scottish entrepreneurs with healthcare providers, investors and potential commercial partners.
The fund builds on the university’s longstanding presence in Singapore through UGS, established in 2011 as its first subsidiary outside Scotland.
The university said its spin-out companies had attracted more than £150 million in investment and generated over £500 million in enterprise value since 2010.
The fund is part of a wider commitment to medical technology innovation at Glasgow.
In September 2026, the university welcomed the first students to its MedTech Innovation MSc, described as the first programme of its kind in Scotland.
Developed with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, the West of Scotland Innovation Hub and industry partners, the 12-month course covers the innovation process from identifying clinical needs through to commercialisation.
Students gain practical experience through placements with NHS bodies, government organisations and medical technology companies.
Uzma Khan, vice principal for innovation and economic development and chief operating officer at the University of Glasgow, said: “The University of Glasgow is committed to helping our researchers, entrepreneurs and spin-out companies realise their global potential.
“The MedTech Innovation Singapore Fund creates new opportunities to connect Scottish innovation with international partners, investors and healthcare systems, accelerating the translation of world-leading research into real-world impact.
“Singapore is an outstanding partner in this endeavour, and this initiative represents an exciting new chapter in strengthening innovation links between our two countries.”
Cindy Goh, director of University of Glasgow Singapore, said: “As the University of Glasgow’s hub in South-East Asia, UGS is uniquely positioned to connect Scottish innovation with one of the world’s most dynamic healthcare and technology ecosystems.
“The MedTech Innovation Singapore Fund builds on years of collaboration with partners including the Singapore Institute of Technology and creates new opportunities for researchers, students and spinout companies to engage internationally.”
