Carbon Equity, the climate-focused platform giving mass affluent and wealthy people access to private funds, is delving into infrastructure. Climate Infrastructure Fund I is a fund-of-funds with a €50 million target; it has just reached a first closed at €10 million, Carbon Equity announced today. The minimum commitment size Carbon Equity accepts is €100 000, according to the announcement.

The news is a further sign that asset managers recognise wealthy and mass affluent individuals as a growing class of investors for private markets – and that they have an appetite for impact and climate-themed opportunities.

CIF I is classified as an Article 9 fund, the announcement states. Carbon Equity will invest it in three to five infrastructure funds that invest in “projects rolling out proven technologies”, chief executive Jacqueline van den Ende said in the announcement.

Carbon Equity’s flagship venture and growth fund-of-funds strategy is also in market with its third vehicle; Climate Tech Portfolio III had raised €60 million of its €120 target in June this year, the firm announced.
