A BROMSGROVE home has been crowned the UK’s energy saving champion after winning an eco-friendly challenge.
The contest was was launched by UK housebuilder Pye Homes during Big Energy Saving Week.
Across the four-week challenge, residents who participated in the eco challenge, monitoring their normal energy usage for two weeks.
They were then provided with a guide to energy-saving tips and tricks, which they could then introduce for the subsequent fortnight.
Whichever household saw the biggest net percentage reduction in energy consumption would be crowned the winner.
The Martin family from Bromsgrove was crowned the challenge’s winner. They significantly reducing their energy by 58 per cent after implementing the expert tips and tricks.
As well as the kudos of being the UK’s energy saving champion, the Martin family won a £400 eco-conscious prize bundle. The pack featured Shark NeverChange5 Air Purifier Compact Pro, Ninja CRISPi 4-in-1 portable glass air fryer. It also included a £100 online voucher for eco-conscious retailer Peace With The Wild
The challenge was launched to reflect Pye Homes’ strong focus on energy efficiency and sustainability across its various housing developments.

Competition winner, Hannah Martin, added:“Taking part in this competition has been a brilliant experience.
“It has definitely made me mindful of how much energy can be unnecessarily consumed.
“I’ve noticed a big reduction in my bills from making a few small changes.
“Washing on a lower temperature and lowering the thermostat by a few degrees truly does make a difference.”
