Great Barrington — The Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) Action Fund announced on Wednesday, August 14, its endorsement of Leigh Davis in the election for state representative for the 3rd Berkshire District, as “a credit to her commitment to the environment and climate action.”
“Leigh Davis is running on a strong platform that prioritizes environmental advocacy,” said ELM Action Fund Executive Director Casey Bowers. “She is committed to reaching net zero emissions, investing in green infrastructure, and shifting towards a green economy.”
“I’m incredibly proud to receive the endorsement of the ELM Action Fund,” said Davis. “I look forward to working alongside them to advance bold, immediate action to address the climate crisis and to protect our commonwealth from pollution.”
Davis is currently the communications director at Construct, the largest affordable housing nonprofit in the Southern Berkshires. She also serves as vice chair of the Great Barrington Selectboard, chair of the Housing Subcommittee, and a member of the Lake Mansfield Improvement Task Force and Community Preservation Committee.
“Davis aims to mitigate the climate crisis by protecting and restoring natural resources and wildlife,” states the ELM Action Fund. “Given her commitment to her community, she aims to protect the [Berkshires’] farmlands by working with farmers to promote sustainable agriculture. Her dedication to sustainability is also reflected in her calls to expand renewable energy deployment, such as solar and offshore wind, as well as electrify public transit.
