RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – NV Energy and the United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS), are hosting the NV Energy Family Festival.
Ravyn Smith, senior vice president of marketing and development at UWNNS; Lisa Harris, community relations lead for NV Energy; and Madisyn Harlan, senior community relations specialist at NV Energy, stopped by Morning Break to invite the whole community to this event.
It will take place on Tuesday, August 20 from 5-7 p.m. at NV Energy (6100 Neil Road, Reno).
Event Highlights:
- Free Books for Station Passport Completion: UWNNS will be giving away free books to the first 100 participants who complete all the festival activities.
- Washoe County Library: The library will engage families with educational activities and resources.
- Spread the Word Nevada: This organization will conduct a book drive, encouraging attendees to bring a book to enter into a raffle, supporting community literacy initiatives.
- DPIL Sign-Up Table: The Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library sign-up table will be available for parents to enroll their children in a program that provides free books, promoting early childhood literacy
- Electrical/Gas Safety Demonstrations: Attendees can learn about gas and electrical safety through engaging and informative demonstrations, making safety education fun for the whole family.
- PowerShift Booth: Visitors can gather valuable energy conservation tips and learn about programs that help save energy and reduce costs.
- Additional Activities: The festival will feature a make-your-own paper/bookmark station, an ice cream truck, and cornhole games for all ages.
