Abu Dhabi’s energy chief is adding the top role at the state oil company’s international investment unit to his already long list of titles amid a surge of deals targeting a global expansion in gas and chemicals.
As group chief executive officer of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co., Sultan Al Jaber was already effectively overseeing major decisions at the year-old investment unit XRG and formally became the company’s CEO this month, according to the company’s social media posts. The move coincides with the retirement of Khaled Salmeen, Adnoc’s Downstream CEO who had also been XRG’s chief operating officer.
