Qapture Investments has completed two strategic transactions aimed at expanding its regulated investment management and decentralized finance capabilities.
The Bermuda-based digital asset manager acquired Flammarion Partners Ltd., a British Virgin Islands Approved Manager that has been renamed Qapture Investments (BVI) Ltd., and acquired the on-chain yield strategies and operational infrastructure of Hermetik Trading Technologies.
Hermetik founder Brendan MacNeil has also joined Qapture as Head of DeFi.
MacNeil has approximately a decade of experience in digital assets and operated Hermetik for three years with backing from East Valley Ventures.
The acquisition adds Hermetik’s three-year track record in on-chain yield strategies to Qapture’s existing eight-year track record in directional digital asset strategies.
As Head of DeFi, MacNeil will join Qapture’s Research and Investment Committees and lead development of the firm’s on-chain strategies and products.
Hermetik’s proprietary systems and operational infrastructure will also be incorporated into Qapture’s platform to support yield optimization, risk management and automated execution.
Qapture Investments (BVI) Ltd. will serve as investment manager for the firm’s Bermuda-domiciled funds and separately managed accounts.
The BVI Approved Manager framework permits Qapture to manage professional funds and discretionary managed accounts representing up to $400 million in aggregate assets while the firm pursues an investment-business license from the Bermuda Monetary Authority and plans a Bermuda-domiciled Segregated Accounts Company.
