BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — Residents of a multi-family brownstone on Henry St. between State and Joralemon streets in Brooklyn Heights were awakened around 5 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13 after a fire broke out on a rear terrace, and then spread to the main structure.
Tenants huddled in the dark outside as firefighters ran hoses through the parlor floor to the back, and climbed a ladder to the roof.
An FDNY spokesperson told the Brooklyn Eagle that 60 Fire Department and EMS personnel responded to the early-morning blaze. FDNY quickly extinguished the fire, and it was declared under control in less than an hour at 5:55 a.m. No injuries were reported.
The home — a single-family later converted to luxury coops, was constructed in 1901, according to several real estate websites. The garden-parlor duplex on the lower level was purchased by director and producer Mark Mylod (“Succession.” “Game of Thrones”) and costume designer Amy Wescott (“Black Swan,” “Fallout”) in 2011, according to NYC records.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to an FDNY spokesperson.
