Income tax, prisoner release, maternity care – opposition leaders can take their pickpublished at 11:49 GMT

It’s been a week of late nights at Holyrood, with MSPs
sitting until all hours thrashing out amendments to the Land Reform Bill.

Parliament also found time to sign off the early release of
prisoners and agree a national investigation into maternity services last
night.

This afternoon there’s a new climate change plan to be set
out too, as Holyrood crams in business before next year’s election.

Set all of that against a national debate about income tax,
with potentially major consequences for the Scottish budget, and there is no
shortage of topics for opposition leaders to pick up on.

The parliament may be back to a “family friendly” 17:00
decision time this afternoon, but the pace of political debate is likely to be
no less frantic.
