The Dakha police today attached the property of a smuggler.
The property was built by the woman with the proceeds of drug money. Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dakha, Varinder Singh Khosa, along with Station House Officer, Dakha, Inspector Gurvinder Singh, put up a property attachment notice on the house of the suspect.
She was identified as Sunita, a resident of Kailpur Baraich village in Dakha.
The DSP said Sunita was arrested by the Dakha police in November 2022 along with 700 kg of poppy husk. Later during the investigation, the police found that the suspect had amassed a property with the proceeds of the drug money. She built a house at Baraich village in Dakha with the drug money. The value of the attached house is Rs 11.09 lakh.
Khosa said after preparing a case, it was sent for approval to the Competent Authority, New Delhi, and after obtaining the approval, property attachment notice were today affixed on the house of the suspect.
He said records of drug smugglers under the Dakha police sub-division were being scrutinised and if a person was found to have made property with the proceeds of drug money, his property would be confiscated by the law.
Sources said several cases of seeking approval for attachment of property of drug smuggler’s were already lying pending before the competent authority.
