U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced in an Aug. 6 news release that Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and Huron County Airport will receive $2,769,853 for improvements.
“Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state,” Brown said in the release. “These investments will enhance safety and operations at Northeast Ohio airports and improve travel for Ohio families and businesses.”
The Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded the investments through the Airport Improvement Program, according to the release.
The projects include:
• $2,625,000 to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to design new wildlife fencing and gates.
• $144,853 to the Huron County Airport to design a new rotating beacon, lighting vault equipment and wind cone. The investment also will enable the design of new lighting on two of the runways.
