Legacy Is, founded in Cirencester by adviser Richard Kerton, offers services including life insurance, income protection, critical illness cover, and private medical insurance for both individuals and businesses.
It aims to improve understanding of financial protection products among families and organisations in the area.
Mr Kerton said: “Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of people, and one thing that’s remained consistent is how unclear protection can feel for a lot of people.
“A lot of people simply haven’t been prompted to think about it, or don’t fully understand what’s available.”
With 20 years of experience in the protection industry, Mr Kerton launched the business to provide clear, accessible advice in his community.
He said: “I wanted to build something locally where people can have proper conversations and get clear, honest advice without feeling overwhelmed or pressured.
“For most people, it’s not about buying insurance, it’s about protecting themselves financially when things go wrong.”
The majority of insurance claims are paid out—98 per cent, according to recent Financial Conduct Authority data—underscoring the importance of protection products.
Despite this, six in 10 people have never considered their protection needs, a gap Legacy Is hopes to address through a focus on education and approachable advice.
