Children in Poverty Inverclyde has been donating hundreds of warm coats to schools throughout the area thanks to donations from local people.
Now the charity has been awarded £2,000 from Inverclyde Council’s Warm Hand of Friendship fund to help them continue their work.
Children in Poverty Inverclyde founder Pat Burke said: “We appreciate the £2000 funding grant from the Warm Hand of Friendship Fund for purchase of winter clothing for children.
“We have been inundated from nurseries and schools for donations of puffer jackets and coats exceeding our budget with total costs of £5,600.”
He says that the funding from the council will meet around 35 per cent of their expenditure to meet the growing demand on the frontline.
The charity also runs an annual Christmas appeal to help struggling families across Inverclyde.
Inverclyde Council recently showed its support for charities and organisations through its Warm Hand of Friendship funding to help with the cost of living crisis.
