NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — As part of the “Choose How You Move” plan, Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell has pledged more than $23 million to improve service from WeGo buses around town.
Some of Nashville’s busiest roadways haven’t seen significant upgrades in more than 50 years, but O’Connell has vowed from his first day in office he wanted to improve them, and that includes upgrades to WeGo.

Over $100 million has been invested in Nashville roads and the infrastructure that supports it. The mayor’s office said the hope is that everyday life for Nashvillians will continue to get better.
This round of funding for “Choose How You Move” will advance work on both Nolensville and Gallatin pikes, addressing critical north-south and downtown-to-Madison routes.
Another portion of this funding round will be put toward transit services and safety. According to the mayor’s office $23.6 million is earmarked for WeGo service expansions, including new buses, upgraded stops and shelters, and improvements in the airport transit rider experience.

A further $13.4 million is slated for safety and security upgrades for the new transit safety division within the Metro Nashville Police Department, as well as reconstruction of Edgehill/Chestnut Street and Church Street/Elliston Place to improve safe connectivity to major transit routes.
Other funding is being put toward improving sidewalks and traffic signals.
