Workers in 30 jobs can get £85 boost as energy bills go up Thursday – full list

Employees in over 30 professions can unlock up to £85 through energy switch deals ahead of the October price cap

People working in over 30 professions can unlock energy and household bill savings ahead of the upcoming October energy price cap rise, thanks to Blue Light Card. As households prepare for a rise in energy bills on Thursday, October 1, frontline workers could benefit from up to £85 in energy switching incentives.

With Ofgem’s energy price cap set to increase by 4% this week, household budgets are expected to be put under further pressure. The hike will push the annual Ofgem Energy Price Cap up to £1,723 for a typical dual-fuel household paying by direct debit, which is an increase of £60 per year (about £5 per month) from the previous cap of £1,663.

However, workers across the emergency services, NHS, social care, teaching community, armed forces, and more could be missing out on incentives worth up to £85 when switching energy providers. To help ease pressure on household budgets, Blue Light Card is offering a range of switching deals and incentives across leading energy providers, including an exclusive offer with EDF.

Steffie Brader, Head of Strategic Partnerships, said: “With changes to the energy price cap coming this autumn, frontline workers are facing continued pressure on household budgets. It’s more important than ever to double-check you’re on the right energy tariff and not paying more than you need to.

“Taking a few minutes to review your current deal and see if there’s a better option could help reduce your monthly costs and ease some of the pressure on household budgets. Switching provider or tariff might feel like a small change, but everyday changes can make a meaningful difference to household budgets over time.

“With a range of savings and incentives available with Blue Light Card, making the switch could also help offset some of the cost pressures many households are facing.”

Steffie adds that the gift card incentive should not be the primary basis for switching; consumers should compare the full tariff cost before switching. Independent comparison tools such as Ofgem-accredited services are available. Visit the Blue Light Card website for more information on exclusive discounts and deals.
