New affordable, energy-efficient home to be built in Greenfield

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity will be hosting a wall-raising ceremony for a new home in Greenfield on Sunday.

This non-profit organization helps families build and improve places to call home with the belief that affordable housing plays a critical role in communities. The event is in honor of the raising of the first wall on a new affordable, energy-efficient home to be built by community volunteers, and the future homeowners.

The plan involved turning a once-vacant lot into a dream come true for one family. The family’s mentor will introduce them and welcome them to the onset of the construction of their future home as they will put in over 250 hours of labor on the building of their home.

The ceremony will begin at 5 PM at 184 Petty Plain Road in Greenfield.
