A fourth energy supplier has announced a price rise as the energy crisis due to the Iran war continues to hit household budgets.
Flogas said it would hike electricity and gas prices from July 20 next. Electricity prices are going up by 11pc. This will cost the typical household an extra €214 a year.
Gas prices are going up by 12pc, a move that will add €180 to the average bill. This will mean a dual-fuel customer will end up paying an extra €400 a year.

Flogas said the price hikes would apply only to customers on its variable price plans and would not affect customers currently on its fixed-rate contracts.
PrepayPower has already pushed through higher prices, with both Electric Ireland and Yuno Energy putting up prices at the start of next month. Electricity prices will rise by 8pc for Electric Ireland’s 1.1 million customers on July 1. Gas prices are going up by 7.7pc.
The cumulative impact of both increases will leave households worse off by more than €250 a year.
Both Energia and SSE Airtricity raised their residential energy prices in late 2025.
Flogas said that continued volatility in global energy markets, coupled with geopolitical tensions and sustained pressures across the energy market, had made the increases necessary.
Ken O’Byrne, commercial director at Flogas, said the company’s priority had been to protect customers from increases wherever possible and consistently absorb the cost for as long as it could.
“However, given the continued volatility in energy markets driven by the ongoing geopolitical tensions, we are now unfortunately unable to delay this increase any further,” he said.
He said that Flogas recognised that any price increase was unwelcome for customers, particularly in the current cost of living environment, adding that it remained committed to closely monitoring market conditions and accessing future opportunities within the energy market to deliver value to our customers wherever possible.
It comes as electricity prices in this country have twice recently been confirmed as being the highest in Europe.
Close to 320,000 electricity customers are in arrears on their bills, according to figures from the energy regulator CRU.
Daragh Cassidy, of price comparison site Bonkers.ie, said this price hike followed recent increases from Electric Ireland, Yuno Energy and PrepayPower over the past few weeks.
He said the Flogas rise would cost the average customer almost to €400 a year more for their gas and electricity.
“Already, a near record number of households are in arrears on their energy bills, and this is likely to make the problem worse,” he said.

Mr Cassidy said that despite the rising prices, there was still strong competition among energy suppliers for new customers and many were offering good introductory discounts to those who switched.
“I can’t stress enough how quick and easy it is to switch supplier. The entire process can be completed online in just a few minutes and customers don’t even need to contact their existing supplier before switching.”
He said savings of more than €600 were possible for the average household, which would more than offset the price hike.
He also encouraged households to check the Government supports to which they may be entitled, because these could make a real difference over the colder months.
