Hisense is building energy efficient smart appliances for the modern consumer


Innovation and sustainability are central to how I see the future of consumer electronics, particularly in markets like Bangladesh where energy efficiency and affordability increasingly go hand in hand. At Hisense, our focus is on transforming appliances from standalone products into intelligent, connected systems that improve everyday living.

Innovation drives our product development. In air conditioning, we are moving beyond conventional cooling to full indoor climate management. Technologies like Air Fresh Master introduce fresh air into the cooling cycle, improving ventilation alongside temperature control. AI-driven features such as Smart Eye detect human presence and adjust airflow for comfort, while advanced inverter technology regulates compressor speed to deliver efficient cooling with reduced energy use.

This approach extends across our ecosystem. In refrigerators, AI-powered temperature control and multi-airflow systems help maintain consistent cooling, preserve food for longer, and optimise energy consumption. Smart connectivity allows users to monitor and adjust settings remotely. In televisions, AI-driven picture and sound optimisation enhance viewing experiences by automatically adapting to content and surroundings, while energy-efficient display technologies remain a priority. Hisense’s leadership in the 100-inch-plus TV category reflects this commitment, supported by our VIDAA operating system.

For washing machines, intelligent systems detect fabric type and load size, adjusting water, detergent, and cycle duration accordingly. This ensures better performance while reducing water and electricity usage. Across all appliances, we continue to improve efficiency through design innovations such as enhanced heat exchange systems, enabling compact yet high-performance products.

Sustainability is embedded throughout the product lifecycle. From design and manufacturing to operation and recyclability, we prioritise energy-efficient technologies like full DC inverter systems and AI-based energy management. Environmentally friendly refrigerants such as R32 are part of this effort, alongside ongoing exploration of lower-impact alternatives. Durability is also key, with robust components, anti-corrosion protection, and self-diagnostic systems that extend product lifespan and reduce maintenance needs.

Consumer behaviour in Bangladesh is evolving. Rising electricity costs are encouraging greater awareness of total cost of ownership, with more households considering long-term savings when choosing appliances. However, upfront pricing remains a major factor for many, meaning the shift toward value-driven decisions is still gradual and uneven.

As technology advances, serviceability becomes increasingly important. We design products with modular structures and standardised components to simplify repairs. Smart diagnostics help detect issues early, while features like auto-cleaning reduce maintenance frequency. Our after-sales ecosystem, supported by trained technicians and accessible spare parts, ensures consistent support.

Partnerships play a critical role in our growth. We collaborate with global and local suppliers to maintain quality and efficiency, while technology partnerships enable integration of AI, IoT, and smart connectivity. Strong relationships with distributors and service providers are equally important for building a reliable presence in Bangladesh.

Looking ahead, Bangladesh’s appliance market will be shaped by several trends. Smart, connected living will become more common, while energy efficiency will shift from a premium feature to a necessity. A growing middle class will drive demand for advanced products, and e-commerce will continue to influence purchasing behaviour. Local manufacturing is also expected to expand, improving affordability and supply chains. At the same time, AI-driven and health-focused features will gain importance.

Overall, the industry is moving toward a more connected, energy-efficient future, where innovation, sustainability, and long-term value define success.
