BlackRock Files Tokenised Fund Shares On Solana: SOL Impact

What Is Fund Tokenisation, And Why Does It Matter?

Tokenisation means recording ownership of a traditional financial asset, such as fund shares or Treasury bills, directly on a public blockchain rather than solely in a conventional database. Supporters argue this can make settlement faster and record keeping more transparent, though the underlying assets themselves, cash and Treasuries in this case, are not cryptoassets.

Securitize, which BlackRock has used for its previous tokenised products, will serve as transfer agent for the new fund, maintaining the official record of who owns what alongside the on-chain record. The structure is designed so the fund can qualify as an eligible reserve asset under the GENIUS Act, US legislation passed in 2025 that sets rules for dollar pegged stablecoins.
