Customers of a specific insurance broker have been urged to check their insurance policies as soon as possible. According to the Financial Conduct Authority, an independent public body that regulates financial services firms and consumer credit, Anthony Jones (UK) Limited (AJL) has agreed to stop carrying out any regulated activity, meaning it cannot provide any services on behalf of an insurer. This includes selling new insurance policies, offering renewals, or providing any advice to new or existing consumers.
The FCA added: “If you purchased an insurance policy through AJL, please contact the underwriter or insurer directly to check whether your policy is valid, and your cover remains in place.
“These requirements remain in force while we continue engaging with the firm.”
According to the AJL website, the independent business offers specialist insurance and risk management advice to business and private customers and provides a tailored and personal service. However, from July 9, 2026, it halted its services.
It is important to note that Anthony Jones (UK) Limited acts as an insurance intermediary and is not itself an insurer or underwriter, the FCA highlighted.
AJL customers were also given “next steps” to carry out following the company’s agreement to stop carrying out regulated activity, including contacting your insurer to check the status of your policy.
The FCA said that the first thing you should do is contact the insurer or underwriter named on your policy documentation to confirm whether your insurance policy is valid, and check that your insurer has received any payments you have made.
Details of the relevant insurer or underwriter can be found in your policy documentation, including the policy schedule and policy terms and conditions.
It also offered customers advice on how to file complaints. Anyone unhappy with AJL’s service should complain directly to the firm.
The Express has contacted AJL for a comment.
