Carmignac launches unconstrained European equity fund

Paris-based asset manager Carmignac has launched an unconstrained European equity fund with a flexible approach to quality growth investing.

The fund seeks to build a diversified portfolio by expanding the range of quality growth opportunities, focusing on companies with strong competitive positions, transformation potential and the ability to create long-term value, with the aim of delivering outperformance across a variety of market regimes.

Its investment universe will include eastern Europe, reflecting an open-minded approach to identifying the most compelling opportunities across the region.

The new fund will be managed by Frederic Jeanmaire, who joined Carmignac earlier this year.

The fund is classified as an Article 8 fund under the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), reflecting the integration of environmental and/or social characteristics within its investment approach.

Said Jeanmaire: “With shifts in industrial policy, supply chains, digitalisation, AI, and geopolitics creating new winners and losers among European companies, I see a strong case for redefining quality growth through a more forward-looking, sector-agnostic and pragmatic approach to equity investing.

“Our new fund is designed to capture opportunities across different market environments, targeting structural growth across sectors and countries, including Emerging Europe. That breadth, coupled with the ability to adapt as conditions evolve, is where I believe active, high-conviction investing can make a tangible difference for our clients.”

Maxime Carmignac, chief executive officer of Carmignac UK and head of strategic product development at Carmignac, said: “European equities remain one of our key convictions – rooted in our heritage, but more importantly, driven by the unrealised potential we continue to see across the region. Importantly, the new fund will offer a compelling, actively managed counterweight to US exposure, which remains heavily concentrated in AI, helping investors build more balanced portfolios and mitigate concentration risk.”
