Three organizations received a combined $10,000 in donations from the Freemasons Fund for Bermuda, with contributions supporting the Bermuda Scouts Association, P.A.L.S., and Bermuda Is Love.
A spokesperson said, “Three organizations received donations totaling $10,000 from the Freemasons Fund for Bermuda, a joint Masonic charity organization. John Skinner, the president of the Freemasons Fund for Bermuda, presented letters of recognition and charitable intent to the Bermuda Scouts Association and P.A.L.S., to acknowledge the donations. The third recipient, Bermuda is Love, did not have a representative present. The funds were raised from the various Masonic Lodges in Bermuda and donations from individual Freemasons.”
Mr. Skinner said: “The Freemasons Fund has been going since 1981, and has managed to donate through the good services of local freemasons, who are the only source of our funds, over $450,000.”
The Bermuda Scouts Association received a $2,500 donation. Chief Commissioner, Dr. Geoffrey Rothwell, said, “I take great pride in the work we do with scouting and the fact that every dime we receive goes to the children. So you know this money gets put to good use. Thank you very much.”
P.A.L.S., which provides free quality care and support for cancer patients, received a special $5,000 donation in honour of Mr. John Hill, one of the founders of the Freemasons Fund for Bermuda. Executive Director, Colleen English Degrilla, said, “On behalf of P.A.L.S., we thank you. John, who was our treasurer for over forty years, would be very happy that this donation was made in his memory.”
Bermuda Is Love, which focuses on providing the basic needs for all people in Bermuda, received a $2,500 donation. Founder, Aaron Crichlow, was not able to attend the presentation but expressed in writing, “On behalf of Bermuda Is Love, I would like to express our sincere gratitude for being selected to receive this donation. We truly appreciate the Freemasons Fund for Bermuda’s commitment to supporting community initiatives, and this contribution will go a long way in helping us continue our work.”
