ICICI Prudential Life launches index fund tracking BSE 500 Enhanced Value 50 for ULIP investors

ICICI Prudential Life Insurance has introduced the ICICI Prudential Life BSE 500 Enhanced Value 50 Index Fund, a new investment option under its Unit Linked Insurance Plans (ULIPs).

The fund aims to provide investors with exposure to India’s equity markets through a value-based, rule-driven strategy, focusing on companies that are fundamentally strong but trading below their intrinsic value.

The fund mirrors the BSE 500 Enhanced Value 50 Index, which includes 50 companies selected from the BSE 500 universe based on earnings-to-price, book-to-price, and sales-to-price ratios. These value parameters are designed to identify stocks that may be temporarily undervalued but possess strong financial fundamentals.

According to the company, the fund follows a systematic and rule-based investment process and is reconstituted quarterly to align with changing market conditions. This approach offers diversified exposure across large-, mid-, and small-cap segments while maintaining low tracking error.

Historical data from the index indicates that the BSE 500 Enhanced Value 50 has outperformed its parent index, the BSE 500, in 12 out of 19 years between 2006 and 2024, highlighting the resilience of a disciplined value-investing approach.

Manish Kumar, Chief Investment Officer at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, said the fund is intended to provide ULIP investors with a simple and transparent way to participate in India’s long-term growth story through a passive, value-oriented investment framework.

He added that ULIPs are designed to promote long-term, goal-based savings while also providing life cover and potential tax benefits.

The BSE 500 Enhanced Value 50 Index Fund will be available across several of ICICI Prudential Life’s ULIP products, including ICICI Pru Signature Assure, ICICI Pru SmartKid Assure, and ICICI Pru Smart Insurance Plan Plus (SIP+).
