PERORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A widespread technology outage is currently disrupting flights in the Peoria area and the surrounding Illinois region amid a national technological catastrophe.
According to the latest from the Federal Aviation Administration, United, America, Delta and Allegiant airlines each were grounded across the country. In Peoria, Allegiant flights to Punta Gorda, Florida, and Las Vegas, Nevada, were cancelled Friday morning.
However, all three American airlines Friday morning flights made it out of Peoria International Airport, according to Director of Airports Gene Olson.

Officials at Central Illinois Regional Airport are monitoring the technological outage, saying in a press release that it will help the airlines and other tenants that work from its location through direct communication and problem-solving.
“We advise passengers who are travelling today to contact their airline directly to determine the status of their flights,” Melissa Beaver with CIRA said in the press release.
And in Springfield, the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology are currently experiencing disruptions due to the global outage affecting CrowdStrike.
Jennifer Jennings with the center said in a press release that this outage has impacted several public-facing online systems, causing interruptions in service.
“The state is working diligently on restoration and minimizing the impact on the public. All efforts are being made to resolve the issue as swiftly as possible to ensure the continuity of state operations and public services,” she said.
Other airlines, railways and television stations in the United Kingdom and Australia are also experiencing disruptions.
Microsoft said they are gradually fixing the issues but did not explain the cause.
Illinois State Police also report their computers going down.
