We received a record number of votes this year – more than double the amount in 2024.
Not only did you – our wonderful readers – generously provide us, through your nominations and votes, with some incredible recommendations but many of you kindly left feedback about why you were voting for businesses you selected.
Your comments were fascinating and gave us an insight into what is important to you when it comes to the firms with whom you are entrusting your hard-earned cash.
What our voters value most
It would seem good old-fashioned customer service is really the top priority for many of you who value staff who go ‘above and beyond’ – patience, professionalism and friendliness were qualities which were praised by voters again and again.
‘Exceptional’ and ‘consistently good’ were phrases used frequently by the happiest of customers.
Being able to reach someone easily at the end of a phone or by email were important to our voters, as was efficiency.
It will come as no surprise the next most important attribute was value for money – great rates and competitive prices still turn customers’ heads and getting a good deal was vital for many.
We loved this comment from one voter, which sums up the essence of the Personal Finance Awards:
“I think good companies that train well and look after their customers should get some credit and rewards. This is a world where people are quick to complain and not praise. TV and Films have their own award systems like the Oscars etc, so why not companies like this. It makes the staff feel good and [it’s] exciting for them.”
And this one too…
“It’s easy to say when things go wrong but not many people praise people or companies when things go right.”
Another voter pointed out, the awards provided a way for the public to hold personal finance firms to account:
“I feel that my votes will help to keep the personal finance industry on its toes. By getting the opinions of customers the industry will know where it needs to improve and what it does well and keep doing that.”
For some, the service they received was more than just financial. One reader voting in the pet insurance category said they received great emotional support when they lost their dog. They found the service ‘reassuring’ and the member of staff helping them was ‘helpful and understanding’. The voter added: “They helped ease my grief they made it easy to understand and they were very patient.”
