Good Morning Britain’s Richard Arnold offered a huge congratulations to beloved ITV presenter Davina McCall after her engagement announcement.

The delightful news was shared live on air during Monday’s show on September 15. Richard voiced his delight for The Masked Singer panellist and former Big Brother host alongside co-presenters Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid.

During the weekend, Davina’s engagement to boyfriend Michael Douglas came to light, with a source confirming the claims that the pair had become engaged in a low-key affair.

A source revealed to The Sun: “Everyone is so thrilled for them.” During Monday’s flagship breakfast show, Richard declared: “Finally, as I wrap up this morning, lovely news to announce that Davina McCall is engaged, our very own!”, reports the Mirror.

“Davina has been with her celebrity hairdresser and beau Michael Douglas for seven years now and the pair are finally tying the knot.”

Richard admitted he was “none the wiser” after encountering the duo on the red carpet at the National Television Awards, though he did observe they appeared “giddy”.

“Have you seen how hot Michael looks?” Davina gushed to Richard on the red carpet, proudly showing off her partner. “Congratulations to them both,” Richard added back in the studio.

Richard Madeley interjected: “Will he be sliding a gold ring on it?” before sharing an interesting fact, as he noted: “Did you know that if all the gold in the world were put into one place, it would fit into a cube 70 feet by 70 feet.”

According to claims., Davina and Michael privately became engaged this summer, revealing the news to their inner circle. It’s understood they flew to the Burning Man festival in Nevada, US, three weeks ago.

Following a health scare earlier this year when Davina had to have a benign brain cyst removed, an insider stated: “To say it has been a rollercoaster year for her is an understatement.”

They went on to say: “She had a new lease of life – as so many do who have been in similar situations. Michael was her absolute rock throughout her recovery.

“If you see them together, genuinely they are like lovesick teenagers. Their chemistry is insane.”

After being diagnosed with a “very rare” brain tumour and undergoing surgery last November, which was discovered following a routine health check-up, Davina celebrated her final MRI scan coming back clear in May.

“When I got this brain tumour I said to Michael ‘if I make it, this will be the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me.’ Because of the learnings, yes – and because of the places I’ve had to go to deal with it,” she later disclosed.
