Cumbrian expert joins Personal Finance Society board

Roger Jackson, director of financial planning at Kendal and Cockermouth-based Financial Management Bureau (FMB), has joined the board of the Personal Finance Society (PFS).

The PFS is the UK’s largest professional body for financial planners and personal finance professionals.

Mr Jackson said: “I am delighted to have joined the PFS Board and am looking forward to driving our wonderful profession forward alongside so many other talented individuals.

“I am immensely proud that stakeholders and members alike consider me a fitting appointment to both boards.

“The role will give FMB and the Westmorland & Furness region a national voice in financial planning.

“This will give staff and clients a direct line into the future of the profession and the opportunity to channel ideas straight to where it makes a difference.”

His appointment to the PFS board comes 18 months after he joined the board of its parent organisation, the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), which represents more than 120,000 members and around 40,000 PFS members.

Mr Jackson was invited to join the PFS board last month to help build stronger links between the two boards.

FMB managing director Liz Beavis said: “We could not be prouder of Roger and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will continue to make on behalf of our profession and its members.”

Mr Jackson’s practitioner-led perspective is expected to strengthen strategic decision-making with direct insight into the needs and challenges facing professionals in the field.

He said the board-level roles offer an opportunity to influence the financial planning profession on a national scale, while representing both his company and the wider Westmorland and Furness area.

FMB have offices in Kendal and Cockermouth and encourage team members to get involved in their professional community.
