PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Today the TSA showed off two new security checkpoints at PDX on Wednesday, ahead of the grand opening of the new terminal.
Both checkpoints have new technology and features and include 10 lanes at each automatic screening lane. That will allow you to put your carry-on luggage in a bin at the same time and X-rays that let you leave everything in your bag including liquids and electronics.
There are also changes to the body scanning machines, officials said.
“This technology allows the passengers as they come through to be able to keep their arms down by their side rather than put them over their head and that creates additional accessibility for the traveling public here at PDX,” said Kathleen McDonald, the TSA Federal Security Director for Oregon.
The revamped checkpoint for the B and C gates and the checkpoint for the D and E gates open to the public next Wednesday.
