McLaren Health Care hit by technology disruption

Grand Blanc-based McLaren Health Care said it is facing disruptions to its information technology platforms and telephone systems.

The health system acknowledged the outage with a notification posted on its McLaren Health Plan site. The post said the health system was working to determine the extent of the disruption and that it did not have a timeframe to restore functions.

“While McLaren Health Care continues to investigate a disruption to our information technology system, we want to ensure our teams are as prepared as possible to care for patients when they arrive,” the health system said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.

The health care system includes 13 hospitals in Michigan.

Affected websites include the Karmanos Cancer Institute site, which was inaccessible Tuesday afternoon.

According to the health system, patients with appointments should plan to attend unless they are contacted by the care team. Some non-emergent or elective procedures may be rescheduled.

“We understand this situation may be frustrating to our patients — and to our team members — and we deeply and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” the health system said. “We kindly ask for your patience while our caregivers and support teams work as diligently as ever to provide our communities the care they need and deserve.”

During the disruption, the health system is requesting patients bring to appointments the following information they may have:

1. A list of current medications or empty prescription bottles

2. Printed physician orders for imaging studies or treatments

3. Printed results of recent lab tests
