Arrow Science and Technology, LLC (Arrow) has entered into an Asset Purchase Agreement with Stardust Holdings, LLC (dba Xterra (XTERRA) including Quad-M, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary), a provider of flight-proven satellite deployment systems.
This includes their family of deployment systems used on more than 350 successful missions since 2014. The acquisition of Stardust Holding’s assets significantly expands the capabilities of Arrow’s Space Logistics Division by equipping their commercial rideshare services with proven and reliable CubeSat deployment systems.
Additionally, this acquisition gives Arrow the ability to offer U.S. customers a turnkey, export control / ITAR-free solution for space access. The assets included in this sale are the key personnel, production infrastructure, inventory, documentation, and intellectual property for the family of XTERRA deployment systems.
XTERRA’s heritage includes NRCSD, NRCSD-E, Slingshot, Equalizer, and now the XCD series of 3U/6U to 12U/16U hybrid deployers and other custom deployment solutions. XTERRA manufacturing will be co-located with Arrow’s state-of-the-art spaceflight hardware manufacturing facility, quality lab, and clean room in Webster, TX.
“Adding the XTERRA family of deployers enables us to offer comprehensive rideshare services. They have reliably performed commercial deployments of CubeSats from the International Space Station (ISS), Cygnus cargo resupply vehicle, and from Falcon 9 rideshare missions. We see this as a perfect fit for our existing CubeSat mission integration services,” said Jim Baker, President and Founder of Arrow Science and Technology, LLC.
Tyler Holden, Co-founder of XTERRA and who will assume the role of Arrow’s Product Line Director for the XTERRA Deployment Systems, said, “XTERRA and our predecessor, Quad-M, Inc., have a long history in commercial aerospace, with over 350 satellite deployments to date, and 20 unique designs delivered. We are excited to bring this strength to the Arrow team. Arrow and XTERRA have collaborated extensively throughout the years. It only makes sense to combine our teams to align XTERRA’s products with Arrow’s services.”
