2024 World Science and Technology Development Forum will convene in Beijing from October 22 to 24, under the theme ‘Science and Technology for the Future.’ This forum aspires to serve as a vital platform for fostering global people-to-people dialogues in science and technology.
The forum will gather over 400 participants, including high-ranking officials from the United Nations and various countries, leaders of international science organizations, as well as renowned scientists, entrepreneurs, and educators from home and abroad. Discussions will focus on how to address global challenges through collaborative solutions.The first session, AI governance innovation:Building an International Trust Foundation for Cultivating the Ecology of Science and Technology Governance, will focus on global AI development, emphasizing the need to balance technological advancement with effective governance to promote international cooperation.The second session, interdisciplinary science-based solutions towards sustainable development, will focus on climate change, proposing ‘negative emission’ solutions to address increasingly severe environmental challenges. The third session, open science infrastructures: building a collaborative platform for the sciences decade, will bring together experts to promote novel research paradigms that enhance knowledge sharing and accessibility. The forth session, cross-industry resource collaboration and integration to provide innovative application scenarios for enhancing the intelligent manufacturing industry, will explore innovations in intelligent manufacturing to drive and serve the development of new quality productive forces. In addition, the fifth session , harmonious coexistence of nature and humanity: environment and health discussions, will explore how to combine urban construction with sustainable development. The session on international people-to-people exchange in science and technology will explore global risks and ways to strengthen scientific communication and cooperation.
Besides, the forum will feature several roundtable dialogues on topics such as encouraging women’s participation in science and technology. Besides, three institutional meetings will be held to promote the development of new research models.
