(WHTM)– Tax revenue generated during the combined 2023 and 2024 fiscal year reached $2.54 billion, according to the Pennsylvania Gambling Control Board.
The PGCB said this tax figure resulted from combining revenue generated from Casino slot machines and table games, sports wagering, video gaming terminals, and fantasy sports contests.
The previous highs for gaming and tax revenue in a fiscal year were in 2022 and 2023, with $5.5 billion and $2.36 billion, respectively.
PGCB added that tax revenue from regulated gaming is returned to the people in a plethora of ways.
Some ways include:
- state, county, and local economic development, safety, and recreational projects;
- support of the agricultural industry through support of horse racing; and,
- revenue toward the Commonwealth’s General Fund;
- School property tax reduction on an owner’s primary residence.
