Council Tax Reduction (England, Wales & Scotland):

You can apply to your local council for Council Tax Reduction (sometimes called Council Tax Support).

You could be eligible if you’re on a low income or claim benefits. Your bill could be reduced by up to 100%.

You can apply if you own your home, rent, are unemployed or working.

Council Tax Discount:

For all other reasons separate to the Council Tax Reduction, you could be eligible for a discount which will reduce the Council Tax you pay.

Examples of discount include:

Single Person Discount: If you live alone, you can get a 25% discount on your bill, regardless of your income or savings.

Second Adult Rebate: If you don’t qualify for the main Council Tax Reduction because your income is too high, but you live with another adult on a low income, you might be eligible for a Second Adult Rebate based on their financial situation.

Disability Reductions: You may be eligible for a reduction if you or someone you live with is disabled and lives in a larger property because of adaptations needed (e.g., an extra bathroom or room for a wheelchair).
