BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF) — The Baltimore City Board of Elections rejected the proposal to decrease the property tax rate from 2.2% to 2.1%.
The Renew Baltimore group got several signatures, but were later told that only elected leaders can change property tax rates.
The Sage Policy Group is now planning to challenge the court.
Anirban Basu, a member of the Sage Policy Group, says the property tax cut could have brought more homeowners and businesses back into the city.
“The economic impact of this will be very positive. “
Banu says the tax rate reductions in Baltimore City can make the city more competitive with its surrounding jurisdictions.
“If this happens, it will put national Tennessee’s economic boom to same.”
