North Hempstead To Hold Property Tax Exemption Seminars


NORTH HEMPSTEAD, NY — Receiver of Taxes Mary Jo Collins will host 11 in-person “Property Tax Exemption” seminars this fall to show North Hempstead homeowners how to apply for important property tax exemptions.

There will be day and evening presentations between Sept. 5 and Nov. 21 to help accommodate the various schedules of residents, she said in an announcement.

Residents can learn about STAR (Basic and Enhanced), Senior Citizen, Veterans, and other tax exemptions that can help lower property taxes. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions about the application process.

Collins said she would provide helpful information pamphlets as well as application forms.

Reservations are not required but are recommended, as seating may be limited at some locations, she said. To reserve your seat, please email gounarisg@northhempsteadny.gov or call (516) 869-7800 and indicate the seminar you wish to attend.
