MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile Airport Authority has acquired of property formerly owned by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Mobile Housing Board as MAA continues to work toward moving the city’s passenger airport near downtown.
The 272-acre property is located at Michigan Avenue and Interstate 10 and is known as Thomas James Place and R.V. Taylor Plaza. The MAA says it acquired Boykin Tower with the purchase.
Officials say the MAA will now commission a master plan to determine the best use of this property.
The Mobile International Airport terminal project is progressing, with completion anticipated in late 2025 or early 2026.
The MAA has also launched BuildBFM.com, a dedicated website designed to keep the public informed about the ongoing construction of the new terminal and parking garage at Mobile International Airport.
