A structure fire broke out at 71301 Lakeview Drive in Leisure Lake, Missouri, on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at approximately 12:10 p.m., leading to a complete loss of the property. The fire, reportedly caused by the controlled burning of a yard burn pile, spread to dry grass nearby, causing flames to grow beyond control.

Upon notification via 911, firefighters from the Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District arrived to find both a camper in front of the structure and the structure itself fully engulfed in flames. A second camper, located behind the structure, was also mostly involved in the fire. Firefighters immediately deployed a 1 ¾-inch attack line, working to contain the flames and protect other nearby properties and structures from further damage. The house was reported as uninhabited at the time of the incident.

Additional support was provided by the Trenton Fire Department, Jamesport Fire & Rescue, Grundy County Ambulance, Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, and Grundy Electric Cooperative. Despite the intensity of the blaze, no injuries were reported among emergency responders or nearby residents.

Lt. Alex Lovell, representing the Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District, stated that the fire began after flames from a burn pile spread to nearby dry grass, resulting in an uncontrollable blaze. The exact cause remains under investigation.
