Bridgewater NJ Route 202-206 redevelopment eyed at Talamini Road

BRIDGEWATER – A proposal to build 64 age-restricted townhomes on Route 202-206 will be heard by the Zoning Board of Adjustment later this month.

821 Bridgewater LLC, of Whippany, wants to build the townhomes on the property on the west side of the highway north of Talamini Road.

About three acres of the westernmost part of the property would be conveyed to The Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties which fronts on Talamini Road. A metal barn and adjacent dwelling would be included in that portion of the property.

The proposal will be heard by the Zoning Board of Adjustment because the townhomes are not a permitted use in the zone and require a use variance.

Another use variance is required for the property that will be conveyed to the JCC because houses of worship are only allowed as a conditional use in a residential zone if it does not principal access to a state highway, county road or other roads listed in the zoning ordinance.

More: Bridgewater budget increases township spending by 8.6%. What does it mean for taxpayers?

In addition, the developer also needs relief for the proposed project density of 5.58 units per acre.

The site is occupied along the highway by a farmstand.

The public hearing on the proposal is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 13 in the Municipal Courtroom.

On Aug. 27, the Zoning Board is scheduled to hold the continuation of a public hearing on a proposal to build a drive-thru Starbucks next to the former Houlihan’s on eastbound Route 22.

The Zoning Board will also continue hearing on Dec. 10 a plan to build 22 townhomes next to the Mount Pleasant Villas apartments in the Finderne section of the township.
