One of Sarasota’s most prominent developers is making moves more than 2,500 miles away.
Benderson Development has announced the acquisition of a Walgreens in Missoula, Montana — expanding the company’s project portfolio to 40 states. The purchase adds to Benderson’s recent acquisitions of a 250,000-square-foot shopping center in Naples, a 51-acre plot slated for a mixed-use development in Venice, and the Glengary Shops on South Tamiami Trail.

The Walgreens is one of 1,000 properties Benderson has acquired in its more than 70 years of business, according to its website. The developer specializes in grocery-anchored shopping centers, warehouses, offices and expansive shopping centers like the University Town Center.
Benderson has accumulated more than $2 billion in acquisitions over the last few years. Its recent purchases also include a 3,400-acre industrial development site in Wildwood, the Linton Commons shopping center in Delray Beach, and two Trader Joe’s grocery stores in North Carolina and South Carolina, per a press release.
