Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Rochester area homeowners shared their thoughts on seasonal vs. pay-per-plow services ahead of winter.
We’ve been spoiled the last couple of days with bright sunny skies and warm air. But we all know what’s coming soon…. Snow.
Before we know it, streets may be slushy, and driveways may be covered in ice. Snow plow truck drivers like Gina Dandrea, of Girl Plower snow plowing services say a seasonal contract is worth the money.
“The seasonal contract is an insurance policy,” said Dandrea. “And I think that you know, whether we have one storm or 10 — 20 you kind of get your money’s worth out of it in terms of like that peace of mind and not having to go out and shovel or snow blow.”
Richard Settembre has lived in Greece for nearly 10 years. He just booked a plow service for this winter season.
“You pay ahead of time for the contract for this season starts on November 15 and ends on April 15,” said Settembre. “They’ll begin plowing when snowfall reaches three inches of accumulation. Plow times may vary, and this particular guy will come out as many times as necessary.”
This year, it’ll cost him a little more than $370, which he sees as an insurance policy.
“My rationale is: the typical cost of a heart attack is around 20,000 bucks,” said Settembre. “That’s that’s 57 years of this this contract.”
Paula Zack agrees.
“For plow, I like to hire a service ahead of time,” said Zack. “I usually get a contract.”
Having lived in Henrietta for more than 20 years, she knows how bad winter can be. She pays a seasonal fee.
“This year it’s $390 which is pretty good,” said Zack. “I’ve seen a lot higher, higher prices than that…Just do your research before you get into this if you’re gonna pay ahead of time.”
