Virginia Retirement System announced its latest commitment during its August board meeting.
The Richmond-based public pension committed $200 million to EnCap Energy Capital Fund XII. Launched in April 2023, the fund makes opportunistic investments into the energy, oil and gas sectors within the US. As of April 2024, the fund has raised $2.17 billion against a target of $4 billion.
Virginia Retirement System allocates 12.6 percent of its portfolio into real assets, amounting to $14.35 billion in capital.
