SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Zoo celebrated a generous donation which will fund student visits for Title 1 schools.
A $25,000 donation was made by the Employees Community Fund of Boeing’s San Antonio chapter. The Zoo says this contribution will support efforts to make educational experiences accessible to students from all communities.
“We are incredibly grateful to Boeing San Antonio employees for their generous support,” said Tim Morrow, President & CEO of San Antonio Zoo. “This donation will have a profound impact on our ability to provide memorable and educational experiences for Title 1 school students. We look forward to welcoming even more students to the zoo and continuing to inspire a love for wildlife and conservation.”
The announcement was made during a special event Friday that featured the Zoo’s beloved mascot, Cowboy, and members of the Animal Ambassador Team.
Title 1 schools receive federal funding to help bridge educational achievement gaps for students from low-income households. In 2023, the Zoo welcomed 108,000 field trip visitors, with 57 percent of students coming from Title 1 schools.
The Employees Community Fund of Boeing is a nonprofit managed by Boeing employees and is one of the largest in the world.
“We are proud to support San Antonio Zoo’s mission of providing educational experiences to students from all communities. This donation underscores our commitment to education and community engagement,” said David Guanio, President of Boeing San Antonio ECF. “By funding visits for Title 1 schools, we are helping bridge educational achievement gaps and ensuring that all students have the opportunity to learn and grow through interactive experiences with wildlife. We are honored to be a part of this impactful initiative and look forward to inspiring a love for wildlife and conservation in even more students.”
