NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) — From helping Newark soccer players get to nationals, and helping you get hired by highlighting hot jobs available, PIX11’s Monica Morales is helping make things happen in the community.
In June, PIX11 met a dynamic boys soccer team in Newark. They couldn’t afford to go to nationals. After PIX11’s story, they raised $32,000 and went to Colorado. They didn’t win first place, but they won PIX11’s viewers hearts.
The boys visited the doctors and nurses at Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair to say thank you. The hospital gave $5,000 to help them go on the trip.
Also, every year Goya gives big to its community. On Thursday, more than 200 volunteers from 21 organizations including the NYPD, Wonder Girls, the Scouts, and Goya employees came together to pack 100,000 pounds of food to help feed nearly 16,000 families. Goya’s annual Goya Gives day at its headquarters in New Jersey was a huge success.
Monica Morales got a chance to host an incredible afternoon with the bosses at Google and Amazon thanks to humanUPtions. More than 150 students from dozens of schools met at Civic Hall to help develop connections that will lead them to their dream careers.
