NAACP 6131-B hosts Freedom Fund Banquet

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – The NAACP 6131-B hosted their annual Freedom Fund Banquet Saturday evening to help raise funds for Lawton’s local branch.

Over 100 supporters from the community showed up to the McCassland Ballroom at Cameron University to celebrate, make connections, enjoy a nice meal and maybe some dessert.

President of the branch Will Scott says seeing so many in the community come out shows just what the NAACP is all about.

“It means a lot,” Scott stated. “Diversity is something that’s important to us as an NAACP. When we were founded, we were founded by a group of interracial individuals. So we’re excited to see the diversity of the community.”

Awards were also given out to supporters and donors. Scott says they plan to host more events in the near future like a quilt drive for Veterans in December and much more.
