BRAINERD — The Brainerd Lakes Community Foundation, in partnership with the Initiative Foundation, announced the allocation of $10,000 in grants from the Spirit of Hope Fund to support local organizations providing essential services to the community.
The Initiative Foundation and the Community Foundation came together several years ago to provide financial support as a safety net to help ensure local nonprofit organizations can continue to provide vital services including food, shelter, and safety/health for local residents.
The following nonprofit organizations received grant funding to help meet increasing demand for services and rising costs.
- Garrison Area Caregivers Food Shelf — $1,500
- Lakes Area Food Shelf — $1,500
- Pillager Area Food Shelf — $1,500
- Pine River Area Food Shelf — $1,500
- Salvation Army – Brainerd Food Shelf — $1,500
- The Outreach Program of Brainerd Lakes — $2,500
At a time of soaring prices and rising inflation, this grant round focused on helping to reduce food insecurity.
Terri Foster, executive director of the local Community Foundation, emphasized the importance of community support during these challenging times.
“Our generosity and kindness can offer a hand up to brighter days for our friends and neighbors facing difficult times,” Foster said in a news release. “With our support, local organizations can continue to help families and individuals when they need it most.”
