CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – The R.N.C. convention started today, and our Wyoming Delegation was there to submit their 29 votes for Donald Trump.
Delegation Chair and our Secretary of State Chuck Gray weighed in on the J.D. Vance V.P. choice that was announced for the Trump 2024 ticket.
“I think it is an inspired choice. He has done such a great job as a United States Senator. His background is “Make America Great Again” message. He just fits with the moment, he fits beautifully with this ticket, I think it was just a tremendous, tremendous choice. I’m very excited about it,” said Gray.
The newly added V.P. will now be the Republican nominee’s running mate.
This was the long-awaited announcement at the opening day of the RNC.
The event will run until Thursday, and Trump is expected to speak then.
There are about 50,000 people expected to attend the convention.
As Gray chaired the Wyoming delegate today, part of his rally cry for the state revolved around the energy sector in Wyoming.
“Coal, oil, and gas, AG., soda ash, all of our industries are under attack. This Biden, he wants to lock up the entire section of southwest Wyoming, the federal lands in southwest Wyoming, he wants to… He wants to entirely lock it up to federal development. That’s what Biden is trying to do right now. It’s illegal, its unconstitutional and its wrong,” said Gray.
The convention is expected to finish Thursday.
Nikki Haley is slated to speak Tuesday.
