Almost 300 jobs have been lost after south Wales energy company Consumer Energy Solutions entered administration and ceased trading with immediate effect.
Staff at the company’s Swansea and Treorchy offices were informed on Friday that they were being made redundant after the firm confirmed it could no longer continue operating. Roles affected are expected to include sales advisers, project planners and staff working across heating and insulation services.
A notice published on the company’s website confirmed that administrators had been appointed and that all trading activity had stopped. Consumer Energy Solutions employs 295 people across its two sites and administrators are now responsible for supporting employees through the redundancy process.
The statement said James Saunders and Michael Lennon of KR8 Advisory Limited were appointed as joint administrators on 9 January 2026. It confirmed the company would be unable to complete any further work for customers and would not carry out remedial works, repairs or progress existing complaints.
The administrators said the administration does not involve any other businesses within the City Energy Group. Employees and creditors will be contacted directly with details on next steps and how claims will be processed.
Customers with unfinished installations will not see works completed by the firm. Those who previously had installations carried out by Consumer Energy Solutions and are experiencing issues are being advised to contact their insurance backed guarantee providers for guidance and support.
The collapse adds to growing pressure across the domestic energy services sector, with firms facing rising costs and challenging market conditions.
